Nexus Launcher with news and lack of features – Android Emotions (Blog)

A number of rumors suggested that Google has been working on a new launcher for future Nexus devices launched this year, and a new leak gives us a taste of what we can expect. The Android Police shared some screenshots that show a new look to the home screen.

According to the images, the apps drawer is no longer available via a button on the Favorites bar. Instead, users can pull up the drawer sliding a Favorites bar or by tapping the right arrow icon above. Five application icons are now in the list and the drawer was slightly redesigned with a button at the top to search for applications. The drawer white applications also shows the icons in the status bar in black, like many other Google applications. The North American giant also seems to be returning to the applications folder design, first seen in N Developer Preview 2.

the already well-known Google search bar was removed from the homescreen and instead we now have a date widget right-aligned. As the images are from a device that does not run Google Assistant, the old search bar appears when you touch the color icon ‘G’ to the left.

The Android Police speculated that removing the search widget is a decision that was made by Google to make users start using Google or Assistant Now on Tap. The final interface might seem the Now on Tap toolbar that appears when the feature is activated on the Home screen. The colored buttons on the screen also fit your design.

This project is subject to change and further missing a big part of that is Google Assistant. It is not known whether this launcher will be only limited to the Nexus model launched this year or is expected to be available for all Nexus devices
