The folks at XDA Developers forum have managed to even carry the Lollipop for some smartphones and tablets, such as the Nexus 4, 5, 7, 10, Sony Xperia, Samsung Galaxy Mini and Galaxy SIII Nexus. If you own one of these devices and is not willing to wait for the official update (which depending on the model, it may not even be released).
Some of the equipment mentioned above even received Kitkat version 4.4 of Android. The Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini for example, is stuck in version 4.1 Jelly Bean for some time now, and apparently there is no evidence that the South Korean will provide updates to his system (which is somehow a negative reinforcement used by many companies to acquire customers more recent device).
It is noteworthy that the ROMs are ported versions “Vanilla”, ie, do not have official Google apps installed, as well as some system upgrades . We also need to emphasize that the performance of these systems can not be 100% satisfactory, and runs the risk of presenting some bugs, instability or even the lack of certain features offered before the official ROMs. To install them you need users to have some knowledge of installing ROMs, Custom Recovery and root apparatus. Do not forget to make a backup of the data, because if the worst should happen, you will not lose any information.
For those willing to venture with AOSP ROMs Android Lollipop, you can find them for download in their respective threads on XDA:
