Asus recently announced that 3G and LTE versions of the Nexus 7 would be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop in December. Apparently, the company decided to take a longer period than needed because many users around the world are already reporting the arrival of the update to the latest version of the system, which is available for OTA installation the devices.
It is worth noting that only the 2013 model is getting the update currently with the previous version of the device still awaiting its release, what should happen during the month of December. Google, however, has not yet released the installation image on your page for developers, indicating that users will have to wait a bit to get custom ROMs based on the latest stable build of the platform.
If your device has not yet been updated, search manually for the update in the settings menu & gt; about & gt; software updates, because probably your device is not set to install updates automatically.
