Without warning, Google “freezes” sales of the Nexus Player – Tudocelular.com

Without any warning to the press or to users, Google just removed from its online store Nexus Player, which was basically the first attempt of the company to break into the rooms with a facing device for streaming content transmission. The set-top box was officially presented in 2014 and offered a number of interesting features like the ability to play some games with physical controls and others.

Despite a very solid and interesting proposal, the Nexus Player was not able to market that Google was looking for and was removed from the company’s portfolio. He was direct competitor of other products.

Yes, the Nexus Player is no longer available for purchase on Google Play, but that does not mean that the company will not give more support to it. Surely the device will continue to receive Android updates in the coming months, even taking into account that it is also part of the display preview of Android N.

It may be, too, that Google is preparing a new version Nexus Player to be released soon, and therefore the current generation was “placed in the refrigerator,” but then we remember that Google I / O happened a few weeks ago and that this hope may not be so alive.

anyway, if you were excited to buy a Nexus Player directly with Google, know that you can now no longer be possible. Still, you can find the device for sale in some other places, although the stock is something somewhat rare.

By the time of publication of this article Google had not yet commented on the matter.
