Recently we got to know a new feature of Android N which to date had passed relatively unnoticed. We are talking about the function of continuous updates (or seamless updates) as it makes more practical firmware updates on Android devices.
However in conversation with representatives of Google, the guys from Android Police discovered that this feature is not available in the current Nexus devices. According to Google, it is quite complicated to implement this feature in devices like the Nexus 5x or Nexus 6P from a technical point of view, since this would require re-partition the memory of the phone in order to get the two required partitions.
in practical terms, Google states that the process itself would be too complex for an ordinary user to perform involving the device connecting to a PC, running the risk of the block.
As we have seen before, the method of continuous updates uses two partitions. While one is being used by the phone, the other is available to receive and install the update to take place entirely in the background. At the end just restart your phone and it is ready to use the new firmware version.
Looking at Google’s statements conclude that this function is only available for devices that run the Android N (or higher) of factory – the next Nexus devices should be the first
