Galaxy Nexus finally gets an update to version … – Tudocelular.com

The Galaxy Nexus is almost as old as Nook Tablet that CyanogenMod raised a few days ago with CM13, but that does not stop him from winning a new version with new software update. Certainly, the changes will be large and can scare the users who are already accustomed to the previous OS, but any development of third parties on this Nexus overlooked is a welcome change.

Officially, the Galaxy Nexus was abandoned in Android Jelly Bean 4.3. When KitKat was launched in September 2013, two years after the emergence of this phone, it was not considered worthy of the new dessert flavor (allegedly due to TI chip), but the CyanogenMod team of zealous and reckless developers braved the elements and continued the support to the CM11. Now the team, which had paralyzed this release more than one year, made a big jump with the Galaxy Nexus the new CM 12.1 nightly. This is a version of Android 5.1 that is at least 4 higher API levels than Google ever dared to go.

Since this is very recent, it will not be probably very stable for continuous use, but can be fun to experience what an old and almost discarded Galaxy Nexus can do in the new generations. The download weighs about 248MB and you will need a GApps package for the Google programs on the phone. You can download the Cyanogem this link.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is still not available in online stores. To be notified when it arrives click here.
