LG may actually be working on a Nexus 5 - Tecmundo

LG could actually be working on a Nexus 5 Supposed design Nexus 5 (Image Source: Playback / Phandroid)

Recently, we reported here that even in Tecmundo Won Kim, vice president of the European division of LG Mobile, had publicly stated that the South Korean company had no intention to continue producing apparatus of the Nexus line in partnership with Google. So the Nexus 4 smartphone would be the last of the series produced by the brand, since – in his own words Won – “LG would focus efforts on products that add value to itself and not to Google.”

However, a report published recently in the acclaimed Korean site Daum.net states that this information (reflected internationally in most technology vehicles) was just a misunderstanding caused by a mistranslation. As the Asian newspaper, Kim wanted to say that the Nexus 4 served rather to add value to the LG, which is why they would no longer have to rely on Google to take advantage of marketing. The executive, however, never explained that the company would stop manufacturing new line of smartphones.

Quite the contrary: according to the same report, LG is already, in fact, working on an alleged Nexus 5 (already had some leaked images above). The device can have some prototypes ready since last month, has evaluated and approved by the Larry Page (co-founder and current president of Google). Remember the supposed specs of the phone:

  • OLED Screen 5.2 “1920 × 1080 pixels
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor 800 2.3 GHz
  • 3 GB of RAM
  • internal storage of 16, 32 and 64 GB
  • 16 MP rear camera (records video at 30 fps with 4K and 1080p with 60 fps)
  • 2.1 MP front camera (records 1080p video at 30 fps)
  • 3300 mAh battery
  • speakers stereo front
  • Gesture Control (navigation, zoom, etc)

It gave no further details about the gadget, but likely he already come equipped with the next version of the Android OS (5.0 Key Lime Pie).
