This is not surprising for users of the giant, 6-inch, a time that also received the Android version much later, receiving the update a few weeks after the other Nexus. The story now appears to be repeating itself.

If you own a Nexus 6, you may well have considered the lack of any official word from Google on the situation of the update for Android 7.1.1, as an indication that the company gave up support for the smartphone released in 2014.

Nexus 6

Fortunately this is not the case. A bug was the culprit for the delay of the update, and this has not yet reached the Nexus 6. This should receive its update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat at the beginning of January.

This may mean that the Nexus 6 will receive this update at the time that the security patches of January to be released, which could happen as early as the first week of the month. Some devices the Nexus 6 are yet to receive the update December security. Therefore, don’t be surprised if your do not have version 7.1.1 in February, even though the official launch to happen in early January as intended.
