Google may have retired the program Nexus for focus on devices of its own manufacture, but the former only models with pure Android are very alive in the community of developers and modders. The most recent addition is the launch of the OmniROM is based already on Android 7.0 for the models Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, the last launched by the search giant.
The OmniROM was known in the past for deliver version based on the latest Android before any other customized software in the market, including CyanogenMod. In November 2014, was the first ROM to offer the Android 5.1 Lollipop for devices not officially supported, and now comes as option in Android Nougat, and even outside the front.
In comparison with the more famous CyanogenMod, OmniROM is known for provide less extra features, but to compensate for the lack of functionality with a more stable performance even in the initial versions. As the Android Nougat already implements a number of new features compared with older versions of Android, the Omni becomes more attractive for being, in theory, less prone to crashes.
it is Worth remembering that the current version, based on Android 7.0, is still in the testing phase, and its installation can cause many bugs in the device. If you want to contribute to the project by reporting issues and suggestions to developers, install the ROM in the mobile phone by their own risk – as always, it is a process indicated only for those already familiar with system modifications.
The link to download the installer is on the official page of OmniROM on Google+ – link in the source.
