The Nexus 6, released under the trademark of Motorola, was a of smartphones most anticipated of the end of 2014. Expectations were huge and now the curiosity by this equipment remains high by our readers.
As such, defied one of our readers, Gil Mendes , user of Nexus 6, to develop a full review of this smartphone but in a different view than usual here in Pplware.
First there is the need to contextualize the option to purchase the Nexus 6, given that it was an Apple user for several years. At the beginning I was very undecided between staying in the world of iOS or from for Android, such as he had done with my tablet Nexus 7 in 2013.
What was the difficulty in choosing?
The difficulty had to do with the leave of the Apple ecosystem as stable, but as I could see a possible change, precavi me and always kept my data synchronized between Apple and Google.
The Nexus 6, released in mid-October, alongside the Nexus 9 and the new Android Lollipop, arrived in Portugal exclusively by Vodafone, although unlocked to any operating and without any bloatware installed by the operator.
If until now the Nexus devices were seen as the Android devices to best value for money, but the Nexus 6 is slightly change this idea and is a little more expensive, yet at a price that pays its new features and laying the Nexus 6 in the position of one of the best smartphones of the market.

Size
Every year we have seen an increase in size of different mobile devices and every year we say that above this size is already overkill for a smartphone , but still so we end up like the new models. But this time is short, the top of this size are no longer dealing with a smartphone , but with a tablet .
As always, Google chose a brand to partner in the production of your new device with the Android operating system in its purest state. This time was chosen Motorola company, that has produced devices with design and increasingly attractive specifications. So they took the Motorola Moto X (2nd generation) and created the Nexus 6 the same design , but higher
For those who always used iPhone, pick up a smartphone of 5.96 inches is a huge difference (of course if we do not speak in their latest models).
It can occupy the entire hand with its 83 mm wide and 159 mm long, with a thickness of 10.1 millimeters at its maximum. And not only be a smartphone large, is also a smartphone weight, 184 grams.
It may seem impossible to get him in hand with these dimensions, but its design curved and the material it is made the back, make it very pleasant to hold. I am honest, the first few days is strange to such a thing in his pants pocket, as he was used to the size of my old iPhone 5, but last few days is like nothing had changed.
Still, for my needs, these are the perfect dimensions.
Design
design is very similar to the Moto X (2nd generation). This equipment is available in two colors, midnight blue or white.
smartphone is surrounded by a slight curve in aluminum, improving the sense of touch , which is also favored due to the very soft plastic in the back. On the back is still recorded the Nexus logo in gray with the symbol of Motorola.
The screen is protected with the already known technology Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is slightly rounded at the edges.
The top and the bottom of the screen there is a pair of columns
Display
Basically, the Nexus 6 is all about the screen. The screen is large but very well used, since almost no side edges. This giant beauty is equipped with an AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass protected that delivers true blacks and higher contrast.
When using this type of AMOLED technology, you can increase the battery life, but I noticed some problems:. when lighting is dim colors tend slightly to pink and when you see the screen from an extreme angle noticed a kind of rainbow, anything that adversely affect their quality
Returning the strengths of the screen, the resolution is Quad HD, which means we get a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, accompanied by a ridiculous density of 493 dots per inch, which makes this one of the best screen on the market.
Performance
As a rule, the Nexus products use the latest technology and the Nexus 6 is no different.
Within this “monster” there is a Snapdragon 805, running at 2.7 GHz with 3 GB of RAM and a GPU Adreno 430 which basically is the same that can be found in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. this hardware gammers will rave.
Camera
In contrast to the other equipment of the Nexus range, Google heard the community and the chamber of this model is in quite good, but still not as good as an iPhone or a Samsung S5, but I think it may be the lack of software appropriate. The camera is quite fast with just a little delay when taking pictures in low light.
The Nexus 6 has a rear camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels, f / 2 a good photo display, 4K video recording, optical image stabilization (OIS) and a Flash in a ring with two LED.
Battery
This is a major concern of today and one of the problems that insists on not be resolved, the limited autonomy of our devices sometimes lead us to madness, but the Nexus 6 has some interesting details with regard to this area.
This equipment has a battery of 3220 mAh able to last an average of two days in normal daily use .
Even with the improvements in Android Lollipop’s battery pack Nexus drains faster than an iPhone 6 Plus (to have a comparison to height).
Since we are talking about a Nexus and common warranty terms do not apply here, a good way to increase the autonomy of the equipment is to install the version of kernel the Portuguese Francisco Franco (Cristiano Ronaldo Android world) as creator famous “ Franco Kernel .”
Another strong point is that the Nexus 6, in addition to charging for wireless , brings Motorola technology allows, in 15 minutes of charging, get almost 6 hours of battery life, the Turbo Charger .
Other aspects
As expected of a smartphone with this price, the Nexus 6 contains connectivity technology better than you do.
The Nexus 6 is a category 4G device 6, thus supporting connections up to 300 Mbit / s Download and 50 Mbits / s uploaded . It comes with Wi-Fi 2 × 2 MIMO 802.11ac that allows high-speed links thanks to its two receiving antennas and signal issue. The NFC is included, as well as Bluetooth 4.1 and HDMI SLimPort output through the USB port smartphone
In terms of internal storage, we have the 32 GB and 64 GB options. For now only the 32 GB version is available in Portugal at a price of 589 €.
Finally, call quality is quite good, but sometimes has small flaws that should be corrected with a future update . Moreover, the noise-canceling technology works quite well, allowing people across the line in can hear even in noisy places.
Final Thoughts
As I began by say, this was one of my best buys for now I do not regret anything in my choice and the exchange of iOS for Android. This is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones of the year, next to the OnePlus One.
The Nexus 6 surprised me a lot and it may be the incentive I needed, and so which has more free time to update my weather application, launch my file manager with support for features root , among other projects that I have related to Android.
Pplware thanks Gil Mendes availability stop the development of the analysis to the Nexus 6
