In one day, Walmart.com sold more than half of the stock of the tablet Nexus 7 in Brazil. After nearly three months of negotiations with the Asus, device manufacturer, the online retailer has started selling the device in the country on Thursday (25) morning. The tablet arrived in the online store at a price of U.S. $ 1000.

“Two weeks ago we got the hammer to buy the full batch of Nexus 7 from Asus that was available in Brazil,” he told G1 Flávio Dias, president of Walmart.com in the country. “Our expectation is that the rest of the supply runs out quickly,” he added.
G1 contacted Asus and Google in Brazil, they said no comment.

Understand the case

Nexus 7 arrived in Brazil this week amid a standoff between Asus and Google. Several retailers negotiated with Asus the start of sales of the product in February, but a divergence between the manufacturing partner on price and distribution strategy prevented the arrival of the Nexus 7 as planned. Because of this, the Asus would have given up on launching the product in Brazil and bet on their own line of tablets.
