Apple’s most successful product, the Iphone, was initially supposed to be a tablet, before the company thought about and decided to make a mobile.
But the Ipad as a product has never really lifting, at least not with Apple’s standards. The figures from the latest quarter show that the company sold just over 13 million Ipads, which generated revenues of 5.5 billion u.s. dollars, equivalent to slightly more than sek 50 billion. For almost any other company at any time, it would have been amazing numbers but when it comes to Apple is the bar higher. As a comparison, the generated the Iphone, which accounts for a majority of the company’s sales, 54,4 billion dollars in revenue during the past quarter.
the Ipad has now been in existence for seven years and a few years ago, falling sales growth, as evidenced by the charts below which show the moving average from the last four quarters (via Sixcolors).
Compared with the same quarter last year, revenues from the Ipad, with 22 percent, while the number of units sold fell by 19 per cent. It means that Apple has a lower average revenue from every sale of the Ipad, something that may indicate that the products are reduced in price.
During the conference call was Apple’s ceo Tim Cook to the question about how he looks on the Ipad. He explained that he is "very optimistic" concerning the Ipad’s future, and pointed among other things, on customer satisfaction with the product is brilliant. He also stated that many of those who buy an Ipad are doing it for the first time.
Tim Cook also pointed out that a large number of Ipads have been shipped out to the customer the corresponding quarter of last year, which affects the comparison figures.
Apple’s latest Ipad was launched in the first half of 2016, it remains to see if Apple makes a new upgrade of the product and the software in order to reverse the trend.
