Before Windows Phone hit the market, Nokia and Intel worked together on a Linux based system – MeeGo . It had an interesting premise to be an open system and facing multiple platforms, such as netbooks , desktops , tablets , smartphones and smartTVs .
Unfortunately, influenced by Microsoft , Nokia MeeGo eventually left aside. With this, the company’s former employees who were involved in the project decided to create a startup called Jolla . The focus of this new venture was the creation of Sailfish OS a continuation and implementation of MeeGo.
As expected, the Sailfish is also based on Linux, as well as Android . Some users who got their hands on the system’s code, made a port for some Android devices. This time it was the turn of the Nexus 5 get a small preview of what the system has to offer. And it’s likely that some developer XDA finish creating a dual-boot system with Android Sailfish. .
